·   NSS has two units with volunteer base of around hundred students in each unit belonging to science, Arts and commerce streams respectively. Unit 1 was opened in 1972 and Unit 2 was opened in the year 2008

·   Financial assistance is disbursed from the affiliating University to these two units. For every financial year, each NSS unit receives Rs. 22,500/- for general activities. Additionally, each unit also receives Rs.22,500/- to conduct special camps every financial year. The utilization certificate is sent to the university for the grants received by these units

·   Adopted villagesUttarpally is the adopted village under unit-1. Unit -2 has adopted Dangapara, a new village since the academic year 2015-2016. Some NSS volunteers of our college are recruited from these adopted villages and in most of the cases they are first generation learners. Specially these volunteers are entrusted with the responsibility to sustain the development of these adopted villages after their pass-out

· Demographic Pattern of the adopted villages is also very interesting. Bengali, Bihari, S.C and Adivasi mainly the Santal people live there. Our few volunteers also belong to these Adivasi groups. During cultural festivals of NSS they perform their traditional Santali dance

From this academic year, we tried to focus on the overall development of these villages including education, culture, importance of health and hygiene

·   Cleaning and education awareness programme are carried throughout the year. NSS volunteers work sincerely to ensure a clean and plastic free college campus. Campus cleaning, cleaning of adopted villages and literacy campaign are continuous activities of NSS department

· From the financial year 2016-2017, NSS volunteers are doing survey at adopted villages on adhar card, pan card and bank account. They are also organizing  awareness campaign about the importance of adhar card, pan card, voter card bank account, ATM etc  and helping the villagers to get them
